Hey, Everyone!
I'm here for advice as to how I should go about treating my hair loss.
I was prescribed Accutane in Aug. 2013 for acne, took it for 1.5 months, noticed my hairline was rapidly receding (more so, my temples), stopped it immediately, and continued to lose hair for 1.5 months afterward.
All significant hair loss happened within that 3 month period; I haven't lost or gained anything since. Nothing I've done has helped to regrow the follicles that I believe were killed by Accutane.
I've documented my hairline for the past 3 years, so I might be able to convince a surgeon that I qualify for a hair transplant. How reasonable do you think it is that I find a decent surgeon to restore my hairline to what it should be now? I am 21. I know the consensus is not to operate on young folk, but I haven't had any hair loss for over 2 years.
I think FUE of about 1500 grafts (750 each temple) is all I will need for now. I am obviously too young to be able to tell if I have MBP (I can't trace it to anyone in my family), but I can't justify not doing anything until the uncertainty resolves itself. The recession of my hairline is my biggest insecurity. For over 2 years, it's been the first thing I look at when I look in the mirror. I'm lucky to have not lost more than what I have, but honestly, I'm just tired of feeling depressed over this.
Edit: I think I accidentally created this in the wrong section. If any moderator could move this to "Introductions," I'd greatly appreciate it!
