What do you consider a "low hairline"? It depends on the face and head shape as well as the native, non-receceded position of the hairline, no? Are you talking lower than 6cm from the glabella?

It really depends. Here is one of our patients who was unhappy with his low hairline. He first attempted to "kill" the grafts with laser treatment. That was unsuccessful, so he had to have them surgically removed.

Yah, I'd say 5.5cm is low by anyone in the HT industry's standards.

Just curious, cause I have heard Dr. Cole refer to 7cm as a lower hairline before. Depending on head and face geometry, however 7cm could be completely natural, mature position of the hairline....

There are IMHO too many variables between patients to simply associate a number to the placement and commencement of the hairline.

Yet if it goes below the frontallis area, then it will look juvenile or odd on an adult.

where would the tape measure begin?
in between the brows, at the top of them?

can you show a pic of where you would start the measurement to determine the height of a hairline?

never saw the forehead measured like this.

i like that Dr. Cole does this

but now i have a frame, and not a big forehead like Dr. Frankenstein
Seeing you in person, I didn't get the impression you have a high forehead.

The critically important, yet subtle attribute of a great hair transplant is a natural appearance that doesn't draw attention. The really low, dense-packed hairlines some doctors place on guys in their early twenties can often have a short life expectancy. It's important to preserve the donor supply and always keep the possibility of future hair loss in perspective and in the master plan.

When I was young, I went to a well known clinic and had a hair transplant. The result wasn't terrible but people nearly always stared at my hairline. Some people commented, "I see you had a hair transplant". One time a half drunk woman came up to me in a retail store and asked in a disparaging tone, "What did you do to your hair?". We all come from a different life experience and my "soap box" is one of stressing the importance of a natural result that does not draw attention. The placement design must also be able to endure future hair loss, should it happen without a patient's hair appearing unnatural should the surrounding hair disappear.
