    Dr. Bernstein,
I am considering having a hair transplant just in the hairline and wearing my hairpiece behind it. Your pictures look excellent. Can you explain what a 2.1 hair density is and how do I determine my hair density and weight?

    Thanks you.

Hair density is the number of hairs/unit area. In this case it is expressed per mm2.
Since there is approximately one follicular unit per mm2, a person with a density of 2.1 will have on average approximately 2.1 hairs per follicular unit or 2.1 hairs per graft in follicular unit transplant procedures. Density is measured with a calibrated magnifying instrument. Hair weight is generally estimated.
        Sincerely,
        Dr. Bernstein

          Thanks Dr. Bernstein!

I would like to eventually get away from the hair system all together but think the transition will be easier for me to start with the front and wear the hair behind my new hairline. Do you have many patients who do this?

The hairline this gentleman now has looks very good. I would be very satisfied with this look.
