This 50-year-old gentleman had a hair loss pattern similar to a class 3v on the Hamilton Norwood hair loss scale. His goal was to rebuild a conservative hairline, add density to the frontal 1/3 of his scalp and shrink the bald spot in the crown area.
As I discussed his options with him, we agreed to reconstruct a hairline that would be suitable for him as he continued to age. Since the patient’s goal was well suited to his needs, I planned the surgery accordingly.
A total of 2,186 grafts were used in the hairline and frontal 1/3 of his head and 400 grafts were used into the vertex area to help shrink the bald spot in the back area. I used a significant amount of single hair follicular units which allowed me to create a very natural hairline. This action will allow him to comb his hair without anyone detecting that he has had anything done. These are his results at 1-week post-op and 9 months post-op. The patient is extremely happy and has schedule a second procedure to have his crown filled in. I will update his crown results down the road.
