Default Nutritional Contributions to Hair Loss

I was doing a little research on diet pills because I wanted to go down to 2% body fat but I came upon this interesting site.

    http://www.drshapiroshairinstitute.c.../hair-loss.php

You think this is for real or is he advertising his product(snake oil)?

Certain protein shakes..."Branch amino acids" should NOT appear on the ingredients label.
I call some horseshit. BCAA's promote protein synthesis and hair needs protein. Any protein shake worth paying for is going to have BCAA additives so if there is ANY truth to it, he's effectively saying stay away from quality protein shakes.

If you want to buy some crap protein shake like herba-life or whatever, fine, but you're not getting the right make up of protein.

That's what I though, kinda seem a little fishy. What about the diet pills, think that is true in what he/she/IT says?

On top of taking finasteride 0.25mg daily, I have decided to start eating healthy, starting about a week ago. I have read from sites and supposedly people like Spencer Kobren that the food you eat can mess with your hormones, so eating a ton of veggies can hopefully help.

I've begun to read blogs like Marks Daily Apple and one called diet paradise (something like that) for nutrition science and tips, hoping this can help and reverse my hairloss with a greater affect than a fueled-out unnaturally working body using solely with a drug treatment can, to reclaim my hair.

I have also heard of methylation, supposedly can occur (think it was in studies? on World Hair "something"'s site) when you eat a lot of natural folate found in foods, like broccoli and spinach. It makes the gene expression for the unwanted genes (hair loss in this case) stop expressing themselves, leaving you with the better option your body potentially has.

I didn't pay much attention to the rest of what was said when I read that stuff about staying away from BCAA's. I just got done reading that other bit last month when I started taking Optimum Nutritions Gold Standard Whey 2-3x a day.

Are you sure because 2% body fat is almost not healthy for a adult male. You cannot go wrong eating lots of broccoli and spinach, greens do help keep a higher pH which may inhibit the growth of unwanted cells (cancer). The diet is key.

I'm planning on starting a regime almost identical to this. It's nice that the foods that are to boost hairgrowth are healthy otherwise. I eat 2-3 different veggies a day already. What's your experience thus far - or, is it too soon to tell? Regards.

I gotta say, it's way too early to tell. I'm cutting out grains and dairy too, foods high in carbohydrates ---> quickly digested to glucose = insulin spike, which was has been found in studies to accelerate hair loss.

So yeah sorry, this was a new start for me, and one site I read from said it could take even a year to see results from a drastic healthy diet change, but there will obviously be no downsides (hah) to eating healthy either way. Immediately I feel great, my body feels less burdened almost and my energy levels are up. And everyone around me is sick and I'm holding strong.
