    Default Hats for Hair Transplants

    Guys,

What type of hats do you recommend for first few weeks of hair transplants?

Any "loose fitting" hat will do including ball caps. The issue is that the band is not too tight so that it puts tension on your sutures. This is of course if you have strip. As you already know, there are no sutures with FUE because there is no strip excised.

The other issue with both strip and FUE is protecting the recipient area. Again, you do not want any pressure or rubbing on the grafts especially in the 72 hour post-op period.

Some patients prefer the use of a bandana that can be lightly worn over the scalp.

Hope this has been helpful and best wishes to you friend...

    Thanks gillenator.

I am looking at using a wooly hat. Not a thick one.

A simple wollen hat would be fine. I had 2000 grafts 10 years ago and they actually gave me a woollen hat to go home in (not the most stylish). A baseball cap can be worn but in reality it isn't that comfortable - especially if you had the strip method. So just a soft, not too tight woollen hat. Not too thick either so that your head doesn't sweat either.

yeah i agree watch out for the sweat could affect the skin (eg cause irritation) or worse yet without area the moist could make it easier to get infection.

If going will a pull over hat - go cotton. Would could cause trouble.
