Looking for some fin/propecia advice
Hi,
I was on propecia for 2.5 years problem free. I got scared of all the potential long term sides and got off it about 4 weeks ago. I got back on this past week and feeling pretty sharp testicular pain. Feels like they (testicles) are very tight and sensitive. My intent is to try to get back on the medication so the question I have is as follows.
Would you recommend that I stop the drug, wait till things go back to normal and then re-start at .5/day or EOD? Of should I keep taking it now for a little longer and see if the sides diminish?
I am simply looking for a perspective on the healthiest approach to re-starting considering the current sides that I am feeling.
I am not looking for responses that simply state get off the medication. I am aware of the risks but my 2.5 year experience was truly trouble free. The testicular pain is very new.
Thanks,

my advice is to be a bit more scientific in your approach--testicular pain, or testicular PAIN? also, don't you think it's odd you were on finasteride for 2.5 years without a hiccup and now all of a sudden after reading about potential sides you are experiencing pain? certainly it could be the fact that you got off and your body starting to readjust and then getting on again caused a reaction...could be perfectly plausible. still, my adivce is to keep a journal and note how everything is feeling everyday--do that for a month and then look back on it...it is harder than we think to remember small details over the course of 2.5 years...you may have had some initial discomfort 2.5 years ago but forgotten about it. it can happen...good luck.

thx phillipe. yes, I have been keeping a journal. I get the sense that coming off the medication for a month then back on shocked the system somewhat. But I think you're feedback is to stay on it a little while longer and see if things improve?
anyone else?
thanks.

I had testicle pain on my right nut while I was taking propecia. I had it for about 4 months straight, but it went away.

i would give it a couple of months. try lowering your dosage or only taking it every other day--see if that helps. if after keeping a journal you can actively look back and see that the discomfort never really subsided even with time and lowering the dosage then i'd stop. of course the choice is yours...it goes without saying i am not a doctor ;-)
