Early MPB

I'm 16 years old and I've noticed that my hair has been thinning. I'm pretty sure that I have MPB, even though the only bald person in my family is my grandfather on my mother's side. I notice more hairs than usual falling out in the shower and whenever my hair gets wet my scalp becomes extremely noticeable. It also feels like my hair is becoming weaker and lighter.

I read some posts on here and saw that a lot of people didn't realize they were balding until their friends pointed it out. But there hasn't been anyone who's said anything about my hair, I've told my mom about it and she said my hair looks normal. Although no one has said anything about my hair yet, I feel like I'm in the early stages of balding and was wondering if Rogaine would be a good idea. My only concern is if it will even be effective, I heard that it works better the sooner you start using it which is why I thought about getting on it immediately. I'm also worried about the fact that once I start using it, I'll be stuck with it for the rest of my life. Which wouldn't be a problem if it was a little cheaper. So if there's any advice about Rogaine or any other suggestions, I would appreciate it.

IMO the best possible advice you could be given is:

Go to the doctor and ask them if they can defer you to a hair loss specialist.

They actually know what they're talking about. These forums will do nothing but confuse you with all the vast range of strong opinions.

A specialist will be able to remove all uncertainty you have and if you have a problem then they can recommend solutions.
