worth the risk?
I think its fair to say if a 22 yr old (with diffuse NW2 hairline) gets a transplant and uses most or all of his donor today he will at least have desirable results for the next 5- 10 years...(on average) but after that all bets are off.
Ok, so most people would agree then that to get a HT under the age of 25 is not a good move. The argument being that you won't know how extensive the damage is going to be until you have experienced at least 10 years of MBP (for most people not until about 25-30).
However, what if an affordable effective treatment that can return a NW7 to his former NW1 glory hits the market within the next 5-10 years? Spencer and Joe especially believe this is a real possibility now (joe seems sure of this) .
My question is would it be a reasonable gamble to go and replace my thin receding hair at 22 years old (diffuse NW2) with thicker youthful locks so I can reap the benefits through the whole of my twenties rather than wait 10 years just to be sure i was a candidate? When really it looks like there will be a cure like treatment available to me anyway in case my HT doesnt look as good in 10 years?

A NW7 is not getting to a NW1 right now unless he's getting a hair piece. Show me one photo gallery of that occurring.
Are you on hair loss medications?

Sorry, I didn't read your OP closely. Didn't see that you were proposing a hypothetical question. I'm glad you don't think a NW7 can become a NW1!
If I were you I'd get on meds and wait as long as possible before embarking down the HT road. You can still look pretty good all the way to a NW3 so learn how to style your hair, look into concealers if needed, and just wait it out. You'll be in a much better position for the future if you can wait until you're at least 25.
