Had a super thick beard hair yesterday

Yesterday I was rubbing my chin and thought I had a scab from popping an in grown hair. Then I realized it was hair. So, thinking it was in grown I plucked it. It turned out the sucker was this hair with a huge diameter like a piece of twine, much thicker than probably 4 hairs combined. Has anyone every had this? I looked around and it seems this happens when several hairs grow together. It was kind of cool.
