    Minoxidil on frontal hairline

    Hi all,

    My question is as follows:

The Rogaine box I bought says not to use anywhere except the vertex.
I really want to use this on my frontal hairline.

    1. Is it going to give me side effects because I'm going to use it in the frontal area? Or are side effects just a result of using it anywhere on the head?

    2. Do people see regrowth by using it in front?

Any opinions and statements will be much appreciated.

    Thanks beforehand.

I use it on my hairline. I used it for about 2 years, went thru a crazy shed the first couple months but the hair came back thicker. It is a pain thou to style your hair after it or anythin but it does help.

      Hi FlightTL,

For males, Minoxidil works best in the vertex and mid-anterior areas. Some males can regrow hair in the hair line but most males cannot. If you do not have thinning in the vertex and mid-anterior areas, Minoxidil is not appropriate for you. If you are female, Minoxidil can work anywhere on your scalp, including the hair line.

Every medicine has possible side effects and Minoxidil is medicine. It does not matter where on your head you use it as far as the possible side effects are concerned.

To help you reduce the possibility of experiencing the possible side effects - and to reduce the emotional impact of shedding, taper up to the twice a day dose slowly over time. Start with once a day every other day for a while. The once a day every day for a while. Then alternate between once a day and twice a day for a while. Then finally use it twice a day as directed.

If you decide to stop using Minoxidil, taper off of it the same way in reverse to prevent inducing a dramatic shed that can happen if you stop abruptly.

If the hair follicle is not dead then there is hope.

          I'M SCARED!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, I did kind of feel a faster more pumping heart beat for a few minutes after application.

Does anyone think side effects can be reduced with reduced usage(1xday at half dosage- .5ml instead of 1ml)

          Thanks.

I had great results with minox on my temples but unfortunately I had to drop it. I was having very rapid heart beating and I know it wasn't psychosomatic because I noticed them right after I woke up.

I tried reducing it to one dose a day and applying it carefully but it just took longer for the side to appear.

I would recommend dropping the minox or trying it months later.

Maybe your scalp as of now has too much absorption.

            Just my 2 cents.

Then don't use it. If you are scared of the possible side effects, you are more likely to experience the possible side effects.
