Balding men offered hope of waking their 'sleeping' hair
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/s...ping-hair.html
Scientists have discovered that hair follicles in people who are balding are trapped in a "sleeping" state and are now developing a new treatment to combat baldness.

I'm sure I speak for many when I say I'm a bit tired of "hope".

Dr Bernard, who presented the findings at the European Hair Research society in Barcelona, said that in people who are going bald, the levels of oxygen around these stem cells have changed, meaning they work less efficiently and so preventing the creating of new hair.
"The stem cells can sense the amount of oxygen around them," he said. "We have identified molecules that mimic the effect of hypoxia on the stem cells. It means we can push the empty hair follicles to make new hair fibres faster."
oh god this is going to fail so bad.... how do they come up with all these obscure treatments?

I believe the only hairloss treatment that is missing on the market is "Bullshit for hairloss" in a bottle. Which promises small ammount of thickening hair because of placebo effect. I swear I would buy it because just for once someone isn't trying to sell me shit as something better, actually they would be selling me shit as shit.

Everytime I read about stuff like this I imagine that the reaction would be the same for people who were suffering from something that was cured back in the 80s.
Transplant the problem to now and the people to their own forum and as things progress they keep getting bits and bits of news of this and that that may be a solution.
They give up a little hope each time a new hope is brought up. Eventually something clicks and it all comes together.

a bald prince? That will never happen. He should have just gotten a wig before his hair loss became noticeable
