    Default A Very Interesting Article

I've always believed that stem cells held great promise in curing hair loss. After all, they've already cured or reasonably successfully treated a bunch of other diseases that I believe are way more complex than hair loss. I just recently found this very interesting article: http://articles.latimes.com/2008/jun...ence/sci-stem7. Using stem cells from bone marrow and umbilical cord blood, a young boy was cured of a fatal genetic disease. What's very interesting is if you look at who developed this treatment: Dr. Angela M. Christiano. Apparently she's considered to be one of the most prominent hair loss scientists in the world. She (and others) should really be looking into using these types of stem cells to regrow hair IN HUMANS (not mice). Although I do believe in companies like Histogen, Aderans, and Replicel, I always believed that those are not our only hopes to regrow our hair. There is plenty of research and trials being done that if applied to hair loss, could provide the elusive cure that we're looking for.

The only way we can really get these scientists to buckle down and cure hairloss is to show how serious this disease is. This disease is just overlooked and accepted as something you must just accept because thats just the way it goes..eff that. I wonder if they knew about the sucidial rates based on hairloss than it would start opening some eyes.

John G, I hear you bro. Hair loss just gets marginalized all the time by people from all walks of life, when it is really something that drastically and negatively affects a person emotional well-being, amongst other things. Sure there aren't any organized studies that I know of about suicide rates with regards to hair loss, but I believe that's because of the aforementioned marginalization of hair loss. But all one has to do is look on the many hair loss forums and other hair loss websites to see how many people have considered suicide because of hair loss. It's so easy to find cases of this.
