Default The long term worry about transplants

So the only thing I ever think about when I think about the potential for a transplant is:

How much am I going to lose before it stops?

To me it seems like guys who get transplants that are not "full head" type of fill ins are asking for really weird hair further down the road when much of it is gone. I mean, you're transplanting hair into the front of your head that is not likely to fall out, ever.

When the rest of the hair behind the 'plant does go, what are you planning to do with that tuft of hair that wouldn't be there?

You could shave it off. My thoughts are that for me, by then (10 years+) we'll have a cure, or something close. Things are really taking off in the relevant scientific/medical areas.

Yeah though we all hope it's not too far away, just because we think it's coming is no reason to justify that teenage hairline. I know a lot of Armani patients got burned taking that approach with FUE. It's only 5 years away.

While I'd say Aderans will have something by 2017 it's unlikely to be the radical cure many are hoping for in my opinion.

Not sure if I have you right here Spex. Are you saying we'll have something before 10 years or we won't have something by 10 years?

I'm thinking we'll have something better than we have now before the decade is out. And by better I mean a better topical or maybe Aderans or Histogen. Not a cure but something better.

It's a suspicious comment coming from someone repping a transplant surgeon. On one hand, the hairloss community has seen hype before, so it's legitimate to be wary. On the other hand, a couple new companies have novel approaches that are showing a lot of promise in Phase II trials. It's absurd to say that there is definitely no possibility for new treatments on the horizon.

It makes me wonder exactly how many patients doctors are losing to people saying 'I want to wait it out and see what Histogen or Aderans comes up with'.

I'd rest assured if it WAS 10 years away, not wasn't
