Default My Experience so far (Pictures attached)

So I joined this forum to share my experience so far in the hopes it might help others and also hopefully gain some knowledge from others to help me to keep my hair as thick as I can for as long as I can. I and started losing my hair when I was about 23 (or at least that’s when I started noticing it). I really wanted to avoid chemicals and anything that might physically affect me so when I was 23 I bought a laser comb. I tried this for 2 years and just seemed to get worse.

When I was 25 I just said screw it and started using Minoxidil (Rogaine foam), Finasteride (Propecia tablets) and Ketoconazole (Nizoral shampoo). I had some great success with this and am quite happy with how my hair currently looks. My before and after picture is attached below after 8 months of using all the above. I would highly recommend giving all the above a try as I have had nothing but positive results (no side effects).

I also wanted to ask you guys on here about herbal DHT blockers. Is there any worth trying? (Saw palmetto, Green tea etc.) Although I am currently happy with my hair I want to try all options out there that may help improve how it looks. Thanks guys hopefully this might be useful to some of you and I’d appreciate any advice you all would like to share.

Nice job! My feeling is that you're already taking the most effective treatments (including the best DHT blocker) so adding anything else, such as Saw Palmetto, probably wouldn't make any more difference.

Thanks for the advice Mattj might save me a few bucks You wouldnt happen to know about any stronger DHT blockers in development. I have heard that in the future there may even be a 100% DHT blocker available as most products are only 50% now.

    Thumbs up

Now this is more like it....

Positive results and a good attitude. Well done. I'm sure you will be able to keep the situation at bay until new therapies come along. I take it you have discontinued Lasercomb use?

Thanks a lot 8868alex I appreciate it and yea that’s the plan really, I’m hoping for a better therapy in the future so just doing all I can until then. I have stopped using the laser comb, which was hard to do since I really do want to do everything I can but I gave it two years and it really did do nothing for me. My specialist told me that I should stop using it too, as far as he was concerned it was not medically proven to treat MPB.

I think if in the future no better treatments arise and I start to go the other way again that I would consider URFUT but it’s so expensive. €10 per follicle and they often do up to 4000 follicles.

    And thanks scorpion

    Nice results!

Are you also in Germany? Where did you buy the Minox and Nizoral?

I am visiting the U.S right now and I have stocked up on tons of Rogaine and bought lots of Nizoral when I visited Canada.

I think taking Saw Palmetto is a really bad idea for you since you have done so well on Propecia. It might somehow counteract the effects of Propecia rather than enhance them (this sometimes occur when you combine medications that do the same thing)

Another question, when did you start noticing results?

Good for you. The best thing about your post isn't seeing the results in the pic -which are very good- but the fact that you didn't even say the usual stuff other sissies and wimps usually mention like (I'm too scared Finasteride will affect my libido, kill my sex life, make my penis shrink or fall off, give me boobs....etc). I admire people who DON'T base the decisions they make on what OTHERS believe.

That's the RIGHT way to do things - try it out for yourself and reach your OWN conclusions and make your OWN decisions instead of having others decide. You NEVER know until you try it.

I'm sure you would've had even better results had you gotten on Fin and Minox sooner and not wasted your time, money, and hair on crap like laser, but chances are you'll probably continue to see more regrowth since you've only been using the meds for 8 months. Good luck and hopefully you'll see no sides.

Thanks Unterleigen, I’m actually in Ireland. I went to a clinic that specialise in hair transplants called HRBR after reading the info on their site(http://www.hairtransplantsurgery.ie/). I just went to have a consultation about the medical options. I get my nizoral and fin from prescriptions they give me, so just from my local pharmacy . I buy my Minox from the US (http://www.minoxidilshop.com/exstrenrog4p.html). As for the Saw palmetto that’s a very valid point I never thought it might have negative effects, reckon I’ll give that a pass. To answer you final question I didn’t start noticing results at all. I just went for a consultation and they took a full set of pics, I then just went off and got stuck in. I didn’t actually think there was any change at all until I went back 8 months later and her took the second set. In fairness I wasn’t really looking I was just getting on with it until my next visit so I’m sure it started earlier than that.

Thanks for the post Thinningb420 I hope you have great results.

Thanks VictimofDHT I appreciate you positivity I reckon your defo right about me starting it earlier but to be honest I really didn’t think it was as bad as it was. And yea I read all the side effects but they just didn’t really worry too much, if you look into any drug that we take there’s loads of side effects that will more than likely never occur. The main one with Fin being the sex drive thing, they actually say that if you take the table for a long period of time after getting that side effect that it will subside.

Lastly in case anyone is wondering I use fin once a day and niz three times a week and I only use Rogaine foam once a day. My doc has told me using it twice a day is not any more effect and just doubles the money you spend. Wow that was a mouthful

Those are very good results, keep going and you might just get all your hair back.

A stronger DHT blocker is Dutasteride(Avodart). But I don't think it's prescribed for hair loss? Talk to your doctor about it. As him/her if they can prescribe it for you. It's expensive though, and I don't trust the cheap online stuff.
