Anyways, a bald patch in the vertex has nothing to do with the hairline itself. It's a completely different area of the scalp. The OP does have a normal hair line for his race and age but he also has a thin area in his vertex. That thin area could probably use some attention if this bothers the OP.
I apologize tracy i was just jk. I know you help people more than all of us put together, it's just sometimes you're very optimistic and lenient with the mature hairline things (most of the time you're right) so I just made fun of it.

what can i say? Baldness is reaching levels of insanity within me.

You can inherit hereditary hair loss from any blood relative from either side of your family. It would be very difficult to find anyone who does not have hereditary hair loss in their family history.

It is completely normal for males to loose their temple hair and develop an adult mature male hairline. This is one of those physical traits that differ between males and females like a deeper voice, bigger hands, bigger feet, wide shoulders and so on. I am not sure if there is anything short of castration that can prevent a male from developing an adult mature male hair line. BTW, you do not look like a Norwood III in the pictures you have provided.

It takes at least a full year on Propecia before you will know if it will be able to arrest your hair loss. It will take longer than that before you will know if any hair will be able to grow back. Using Rogaine on your thin areas in the vertex and mid-anterior can certainly help with that. There is no way anyone can tell you how long Propecia will allow you to keep your hair - but it will probably be a pretty long time.
