You don't have to take resveratrol or drink red wine to get it. All you have to do is eat a peanut butter sandwich every day. One peanut butter sandwich has just as much resveratrol in it as red wine.

    Really

Ha ha. I love peanut butter. I have eaten at least one peanut butter sandwich almost every day of my life. So I have been getting plenty of resveratrol almost every day of my life. Yet here I am - hanging out in an online support forum with a bunch a bald dudes and listening to the bald show every Sunday evening.

maybe your hair loss is just that aggressive... anyways, resveratrol is not supposed to replaced finasteride. We're just discussing here whether it's worth adding to our existing regimens.

With regards to resveratrol, that's a good find 20/20. I'm not sure that taking it every day in a pill format would affect hair growth, but I often wonder if things like resveratrol were injected into a bald/balding area of the scalp, then it might have some hair growth effect, especially since it appears to be prostaglandin D2 inhibitor. If resveratrol is ingested, it gets circulated throughout the entire body and only a fraction of the resveratrol in the pill gets "circulated" to the hair to stimulate hair growth. Yet I wonder what would happen if a localized injection of resveratrol were injected to the bald/balding areas of the scalp. Then the resveratrol (which is supposedly a prostaglandin D2 inhibitor) would be limited to point where its supposed to have an effect on. Same goes for things curcumin or that tocotrienol.

    Er.

    No.

Grapes are very rich in resveratrol. Because the compound is located mostly in the skin, red wine has a high concentration since it includes grape skins. One 5 oz. glass of red wine contains about 1 mg resveratrol, as does grape juice made from red grapes. White and rose wines contain less resveratrol, about 0.2 to 0.5 mg per glass. Peanuts and peanut butter also contain small amounts, about 0.2 mg per cup. Resveratrol supplements are available from health food stores. These contain 10 to 50 mg resveratrol per capsule.

    Er.

What about these pills then? What do you think?
Containing 1000 mg each, talk about truckload of resveratrol.

    Forget red wine and peanuts.

I wonder if there are any drawbacks in taking resveratrol is such high amounts.

Apparently not (as much as I googled on the net).
    But - read this

The group of patients that has assumed only resveratrol didn't show any modification on the PSA, while the group treated with resveratrol and curcumin showed with great surprise a reduction, sometimes also relevant, in variable time periods. Moreover, during this testing, the patients treated with resveratrol and curcumin surprisingly showed positive improvements in the treatment of psoriasis and the attenuation and even a stop of the hair loss, a reduction of the hair graying and the rebirth of hair in bald areas sometimes even of the original color too.

This study says R alone gives little to none result on hair but in synergy with curcumin - showed good results.

^ so apparently we have to take both resveratrol and curcumin...

Also keep in mind that the guy who is writing articles on that site is not really an "expert". He makes money out of every sale that occurs from his site so it's in his best interest to promote his regimen as an absolute cure for hair loss
