Default 14 years old hair thinning

two weeks ago I noticed my hair was falling out more then usual but I didn't think much of it, but now I can see and feel that my hair is thinner. My hair falls out when I do things that involve me moving my hair or touching it like combing or washing. Nothing like this have ever happened and I have not changed my lifestyle or used drugs. what is going on?

    Smile Sudden hair shedding

    Dear CJ,
The most common condition that results in a sudden shedding of hair is called telogen effluvium. In “TE”, you can sometimes see over 300 hairs shed per day. The hairs are characteristically “club” hairs, i.e. have a little bulb at the end. Telogen effluvium is much more common in women than men. Often it follows some kind of stress by 2-3 months. The stress can be emotional stress, a viral illness, general anesthesia and a host of other causes. It also possible that the shedding is related to androgenetic hair loss, but that would be very uncommon for someone your age. It would be important to know if you are male or female, pre- or post-pubertal, and what your family history regarding hair loss is.

A dermatologist should be able to tell which type of hair loss this is and, if it is TE, then a careful history may point to a specific cause. Fortunately, telogen effluvium is completely reversible, but it can take up to a year for the hair to all grow back once the process stops. Your next step should be to schedule an appointment with a dermatologist.
    Good luck,
    Dr. Bernstein

Bleaching your hair can help hide it....as well as the typical hat...or if you happen to have a nice round head...try buying a set of clippers....and try each setting from longest...to shortest...if you can find a length your happy with...it might help hide it.

That’s right, stay a part of this site and read as much as you can about hair loss. There are great doctors here who taking are on here helping and answering lots of questions. Don’t fall for the many scams you see on the internet and check with this site before you spend any money on anything.

You should see a doctor also.

Take Dr. Bernstein’s advice. You don’t ever see him post on these forums so he must have been motivated to help you avoid going to hair club or something since you’re so young. He’s a famous name in the hair loss world so I would listen to him.

My hair began to fall out after I had a coronavirus, I used different shampoos and balms and nothing helped. Try boiling nettles and rinsing your hair with it after you wash your hair.
