(Hopefully I'll be in the first camp, ha.) But like you alluded to, the guy who starts losing ground after even 4 years on fin will still be better off than if he had taken nothing.

I think the devastation of hair loss varies more by personality type than age. But I can empathize about your dad not understanding you.
Here's a kicker... my dad is in his mid 50's (soon late 50's) with a full head of hair. Talk about not being able to understand my point of view.
Too bad his genes couldn't save me from my mother's side.
Man! that sucks, that your dad has hair and you still got the balding genes. Good for your dad though

If I remember correctly, in the 5 yr study on Fin, 90% of the people either looked no different then when they started and some grew hair. So atleast statistics are on our side for the 5 yr period. I think I also remember, that in one of his shows Spencer said results peak around the 2.5 yr mark. So I really hope we get many many years!!! I think I'd be ok losing my hair pass the 40 mark. I wouldn't feel like I'd missed out on anything, alot of guys are bald by that age and I might have the money for surgeory, but lets see then.

    I understand 25 going on 65.
But my point is if you're at the stage of buying propecia you're probably balding and feel unattractive, so why postpone it? and continue lifewasting cash desperately clinging on to your thinning hair, which looks worse than bald.
This is my opinion but i'm 23 and my hairs thin, I can see why people who are older with still thick hair but receeding hairline take it or if you catch the signs real early.
but for me, i look less of a freak with my hair shaved.

In my case i see both transplants and propecia a waste of money but if i had too i'd rather waste money on a transplant even if i lose it again atleast it would look right. rather than retain a head of fluff.

Oh, when finasteride starts sputtering out for me, I'll almost certainly get on dutasteride if nothing better is out by then. I might even do it preemptively (though maybe not, since I'm more weary of dut).
And yeah, it's a little annoying to see my old man with all that hair. He's been married since his 20's, what does he need it for?!
I shouldn't complain because I'm lucky to have caught MPB early and still maintain a lot of hair, but I must admit, I often wonder how my daily life would be different if I wasn't born with this stupid gene.

My insurance is, so far, refusing to cover Finasteride. I know that insurance will cover 5mg finasteride for prostate problems(proscar) but will not cover 1mg of it for hair growth.
Anyway I get finasteride online. Way cheaper...
