Time to call Jerry Springer in.
I expect it is possible.
Is it definately MPB? or could it be caused by stress?

i do not know what mpb mean's, as far as stress goes ,he has put a lot of pressure on himself with schooling, but he is well adjusted with plenty of friends and girlfriends

mpb = Male Pattern Baldness
Your son can join club the Tommy. I'd say about half the people on this forum is their 20's or even younger. About half of those half have no connection of mpb in their family.
Happens more and more with people of our generation I fear.
Mpb is hereditary and having a parent or grandfather with it in your family greatly increases your chance of getting it. But having no bald parent doesn't mean you can't get it or that you are immume to it.
You son is just unlucky I fear.

Hello,
Sadly yes this is possible. It is very rare for anyone to have no sign of hereditary hair loss somewhere in the family tree. Sometimes it can skip a generation or two. If this bothers your son, direct him to the American Hair Loss Association. The AHLA is a customer advocacy site full of the most truthful information about treating hair loss available anywhere. Here is the link.

IAHRS Recommended Hair Transplant Surgeon
Androgenetic Alopecia or MPB has been known to skip generations. He could possibly have a scalp biopsy done which may help to comfirm the diagnosis.
