My advice? Stop wearing a hair style that leaves your hair long.

Your "transition" will be a lot smoother and easier to bear on your self-image if you cut it tight and short. You're young, work out gain some size, develop a new self image.

Your own perception of yourself and self confidence and attitude you have will capture peoples attention more then your hair. And if they *still* are fascinated by your hair, screw um.

    ----

As a side - poor bastard kids wearing Justin Bieber'esque hair styles are in for a world of hurt if they start thinning.

    Hi Powka,

It is not "surgery", it is "treatment". The laser comb is FDA cleared for the treatment of hair loss. The company that produces the laser comb had to prove both safety and efficacy in order to receive FDA clearance. I have been using the laser comb for over four years. I feel that using it has improved my hair.

Your hair does not look like it is thinning. Anyways, the active ingredient of Nizoral is Ketoconazole, which is a mild anti-androgen that may be able to block the hormone that triggers hair thinning. With that said, it would take at least a year to notice any possible benefit.

    Take care,

    Tracy

It is important for you to know that it is normal and natural for males to lose their temple hair. This is called the "mature male hairline". This is one of the physical traits that differ between males and females. Most males lose their temple hair, though some males do not. Most females do not lose their temple hair, though some females do. Temple recession in males is not an indication that you will be bald. Your pattern may stay that way for many years without any kind of medical intervention.

I do see that his hair is thinner in the new photos compared to the old one. If he's noticing it too, then we have to assume he sees it every day and knows much better than we do.

Remember that prevention is better than cure, and if someone is noticing hairloss then I think we should advise with that in mind.

Not that I'm an expert, but I wish I'd known of this forum even 6 months ago. If I did, I'd hope to be told to be proactive, rather than wait and have to rely on retroactive measures.

I realise this, yes. I had a high temple for many years and was cool with it, however now it's receding so much that it's difficult to style my hair. I don't mind a mature hairline so long as it does not force me into cropped haircuts. I'm definitely suffering from progressive MPB.

Yes, but you insist that he doesn't seem to be suffering from hair loss. If he accepts this and his hair continues to deteriorate in the next few months, then this might not be what he needs to hear. Sure, his hair is comparatively thick to the hair of most people posting here, but he's 22 years old, not 40 and he has mentioned hairloss on his mother's side of the family, so there is quite possibly a genetic predisposition.

If the current photos of his hair looked exactly the same compared to the old photos, I'd agree that he isn't thinning, but in my opinion there's noticeable loss in the density of his hair.

You are trying to turn a positive statement into a negative. That is not helpful. His hair does not look like it is thinning. He needs to know that just as much as he needs to know that there is something he can do if he feels it is thinning. Stop trying to take what I am telling him the wrong way.

No, my hair is definitely thinning. I can see that because, as I said before, I am very conscious about my looks. Someone asked what's the career. Well, I do a little bit of modeling and acting, and looks is the most important thing to me.

Now, as I style my hair, when I put it up or make it spiky or whatever, I can easily see my whole scalp. That wasn't the case a year ago. You would've had to really dig deep to finally see a little of my scalp. So, unless this isn't called thinning, yes - it is thinning.

Sure, my hair doesn't look as bad yet, and that's because I'm just 22 and it all began a year ago. Unfortunately, compared to what I used to have, I've lost A TON of hair, and if that continues, I might just be completely bald by 2015.

Tracy, thanks a lot for all the valuable info provided. I will definitely look into that, because I've never heard about laser treatment. I just want to find some reviews/responses first, so that I know it works, because there's being a lot of crap thrown towards people suffering from MPB and some assholes are making money off their problems by selling stuff that doesn't work.

chrisis, I'm in London mate. I'm trying to find where I can find a hair loss specialist. I found one thanks to those association links provided before, but there's just one credited person in UK, and it seems that he's not very good, as I've seen too many negative responses about him. I'm hesitant of going, but I probably will anyway just to see what he says. He's in Manchester, and has another clinic in London, if I got that right.

As for getting a buzz cut, I'm not in a rush. I can always cut my hair and accept myself, but I want to try and fight this at first, and see what people on this forum and professionals are going to say, if there's any way I can keep my hair atleast the way it is now (I would be extremely happy if it stayed at least how it is now!!)

Thanks for all those responses! I appreciate your tips a lot, guys!
