Dr. Marwa Fawzi Regrows Large Amounts of Hair

I know that the article that I'm attaching is almost three years old, but Dr. Fawzi regrew large amounts of hair in these young people. I realize that these boys suffered from alopecia areata, yet with the massive amounts of hair that they regrew, I really think that this could have very positive effects in people suffering from male pattern baldness. This was such a successful study yet there has been no follow-up news about how this could be used to help people with androgenetic alopecia. Since this method was autologous, and was used on these boys without any clinical trials, I really think this could be used on men with male pattern baldness. Here's the article: http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?p...d=a6OdEa5VFNV8

holy shit, great article. If Replicel is doing the same thing I'd say this is great news. I wonder if they collaborated with this doctor?

Just wondering how would one know if they r suffering. Suppose if u r losing ur hair massively at just 19 then r u suffering from alopecia areata? or MPB is there a way to tell?

Her success with the method was actually why I've always been so enthusiastic about what Replicel and Aderans are doing. Although it's not MPB, it's certainly a proof of concept that cell based therapies can have some efficacy in some types of hairloss. Hopefully MPB too. I think it's going to work wonders for female hairloss.

If the treatment works, she plans to look into its usefulness for androgenic alopecia, better known as male pattern baldness.
Serious derp right here. Obviously the treatment works, it had just stated earlier in the article that five of the children had a 50 percent increase in hair.

That said, seriously wondering what happened to this. Why did it not garner more attention? Where did it go? Perhaps some research is in order.

I agree with you, clandestine, and that's why I posted this. It may be similar to what Replicel or Aderans is doing, yet I believe that Marwa Fawzi's treatment could help us right now, and not some number of years in the future. And Fawzi's treatment apparently did not require clinical trials, so that means it has a large degree of safety to it. After all, they wouldn't use young children as guinea pigs to a potentially unsafe treatment on. I mean, the results of this treatment were just so phenomenally successful, yet I have never heard anything about this since 2009. It makes me very suspicious.

Spencer should try and get in touch with her for sure... If it's true, it definitely deserves more attention.

                        Why female hair loss?

I think it will work well for both but imagine what it can do for women with hair loss. A lot of them don't have the same surgical options as us due to instability of the donor area. Also they tend to lose hair diffusely so let's say they drop to 30FU/cm2 due to hair loss and get a boost of 20FU/cm2 all over then that would be amazing. Sure 20 FU/cm2 into a completely bald area for me is a start but's still not enough. I have no idea how effective it's going to be but even something better than minoxidil is going to be huge for women as that's the best treatment they have right now.

I don't know why this treatment can be performed on children with alopecia areata immediately, yet we need to wait years and years for it to be performed on us? If this doctor performed this treatment on children with no side effects (after all, they wouldn't have used this on young children if it wasn't very safe), I don't see why this couldn't be performed immediately on some select few people. I'm sure people who were butchered by archaic hair transplants would jump at the chance to try something like this. I for one would jump at the chance to try this (and I've never been butchered by a bad transplant).
