Topical Anti-androgens
Hi,
I have been on propecia about 6/7 weeks now and I am also using Nizoral 1% twice a week.
I know that simply put, Finasteride reduces the amount of DHT in your body and that Nizoral is a week anti androgen (stops DHT binding to follicles).
Just wondering if there are any other topical anti androgens I could use and where could I get it from?
Oh I live in the UK
Cheers

You should always stick with the minimum possible to achieve the desired effect. If you are trying to arrest or slow down your hair loss, the two medications you are using should be enough to control DHT and allow hair follicles that can still grow hair to grow hair. I wouldn't use any more anti-androgens, mild or otherwise, if I were you. If you are trying to grow some hair back if it can grow back, you should consider adding Rogaine (or generic Minoxidil) to your regimen. If you haven't already done so.

Thanks for the reply Tracy.
I wasn't going to start on Minox because I don't think I can commit to it, plus at the moment I don't necessarily need to regrow hair, just keep what I have and maybe get some slight regrowth with finasteride, seeing as how I have caught my hair loss early.
Oh and do you think Niz 1% 2 times a week is enough?

Yes that's fine. You do not want to over use Nizoral. Nizoral is a great medicated shampoo that helps a lot of people but it can dry out your hair and scalp and possibly make hair loss worse if you over use it.
Where are you on this chart and how long has your hair been that way?

I'm a NW2, with slight diffuse thinning (though I've never had thick hair!)
I have been a NW2 since about 18. From looking at photos of myself, I had a juvenile hairline til about 16/17 and from the age of 18 I've had a NW2 but its not really receded anymore since 18, just noticed the thinning in the past 8 months or so

You probably would not gain anything appreciable by using Rogaine then. You might be able to thicken the caliber and quality of the hair you have with low level laser therapy though. This effect will make your hair look fuller and more youthful.
