    Question Assistance.

    Hey.
    New here to this forum.

So, I have been using propecia for near two years now.
I use it alone, no other products.

And while I think it's working in slowing down my hairloss, it's still not doing any miracles ;p

I was wondering if there was anything I should be using in conjunction with the propecia. Any lotions/topical treatments, maybe a particular shampoo, even vitamin supplements.

    Thanks a lot everybody.

The primary purpose of Propecia (or generic Finasteride) is to prevent further hair loss, though it may make it possible for some hair to grow back. It does this by blocking the formation of the hormone that causes hereditary hair loss. Propecia (or generic Finasteride) itself is not a growth stimulant. It simply "allows" hair follicles that can still grow hair to grow hair but it does not stimulate them to start growing hair.

If you desire to try to regrow any hair if you can, you need to use a growth stimulant as well. Rogaine (or generic Minoxidil) is a growth stimulant. It stimulates hair follicles that can still grow hair to start growing hair again.

Low level laser therapy increases the caliber, increases the strength and improves the quality of the hair you have. This effect makes your hair look fuller and more youthful. This effect also improves the hair that may grow back from using Rogaine (or generic Minoxidil).

Many use Nizoral or Nizoral A-D shampoo in their regimen. The active ingredient in Nizoral is a mild anti-androgen that may be able to help block the hormone that causes hair loss at the scalp. It is very important that you make sure not to over use Nizoral. If you choose the 2% prescription strength Nizoral, you should only use that once per week and not more often than that unless a doctor has specifically told you to do so. If you choose to use the 1% non-prescription strength Nizoral A-D, you can use that up to twice per week but not more often than that. It is also important to use a good quality moisturizing conditioner almost daily.

    Thanks for the response Tracy.

Speaking of Shampoos, is there any love for Nioxin?

Nioxin does nothing to treat hair loss. However if you really like the shampoo and don't mind paying the high price for it, there is no harm in using it.

That's what I use. I use it in place of my regular shampoo twice per week. It also does a good job of resolving irritation that using Rogaine (or generic Minoxidil) may cause for some people.
