Default Rogain foam causing major irritation-help

started with rogain foam and after3 weeks i got a bad rash on my ears and eyes..very swollen, red, and itchy.
i stopped for 6 months and tried it again. this time i got a terrible rash on my scalp, upper forehead where i applied it..it was really irritated and it looked very bad.
any suggestions on what i can do? is there other rogain i could take. ?
any reason why the foam did this to me, what caused it ? im obviously allergic. even went to a dermatologist.
    thanks so much

Sadly, you may be allergic to Minoxidil itself. Some people are. Rogaine foam is the version least likely to cause irritation. Women's 2% Minoxidil is the second least likely to cause irritation. I think you should proceed with caution and maybe you should think about abandoning the effort. Sorry but if you are allergic to Minoxidil itself, there is nothing you can do.

is it possible that the 2% may work? also what about the rogain liquid?
are there any formulations with minoxidil that wont cause this allergic reaction?

I am concerned that you may be allergic to the Minoxidil itself. It is possible that you had an allergic reation to another ingredient other than the Minoxidl. I am afraid to advise you to try other versions because I am worried about what it might do to you if you try. Most people can use Minoxidil without problems but you had an allergic reation. You need to pay attention to that and possibly avoid Minoxidil all together.

The 2% women's Rogaine is still Minoxidil.

If your allergic reaction was to another ingredient other than Minoxidil itself, a different brand may work for you. But as I said above, I am worried about what might happen to you if you are allergic to Minoxidil itself. If you are allergic to Minoxidil itself, it won't matter what brand or strength you try to use.

    ok, last questions.
    1) could the foam have a specific additive that the liquid doesnt that could be causing the irritation?
    2) could 5 % be too strong? perhaps the 2% would be easier on me?
    3) the first time it happened, it was about 4 weeks.. i did notice it was less foamy at that point and more liquid.. could that of caused a problem? maybe it went bad?
    4) i did apply with a wet head a few times, perhaps too much was absorbed?
    5) could i try the rogain only once per day opposed to twice?
    thanks so much..

    Sure. Of course.

    That is possible.

I don't know for sure but I doubt it "went bad".

I suppose. I hold my hand under cold water before I start applying it. This helps to prevent the foam from melting in my hand so I can get more of the medicine on my scalp where I need it. I've never had a bad reaction. I also put it in my hair while my hair is towel dry damp.

    Sure. Of course.

Be very careful and pay attention to what your body is telling you. If your body is telling you that you are allergic to Minoxidil, you need to stop trying to use it.
