    Post HT Best Practices

I completed my transplant on 12/15/11. I was the Norwood 5A and had 3900 grafts put in the front area. I've read through the forums as well as Spex's post at the top of this discussion board, but I'l like to get folks thoughts on some of the best practices to follow post HT to ensure results are optimized.

The regiment I am currently following is:
    1. Apply Vitamin E lotion (25,000 IU) to recipient and donor area daily.

    2. Massage the donor scar twice daily

    3. I take a multivitamin, but am also considering taking a Biotin Supplement.

    4. I follow a high protein, high "good" fats and mainly complex carbs diet. This is mainly to support my exercse regimen, but I hear high protein diet is also good for hair health.

    5. I was going to start Nizoral Shampoo X 2 per week.

    6. Apply Rogaine to Crowne area, which wasn't part of the HT.

    7. I don't plan on taking finasteride as I am still young ( I may do a second HT for the crown area at a later date).

Any advice you can provide would be appreciated!

Never had an HT before but when I had surgery my doctor (an actually MD) told me that Bromelain works well on preventing scarring. Maybe that will help on the donor site. Just a suggestion.

Be careful when massaging the strip scar. Be sure that the movements are not up and down. They should be along the area, not across the sutures.

      Best wishes to you!
