Default Hair part is becoming hair canyon - 34yo Male

I've always had thin/fine hair and a noticeable part in my hair. Lately it seems to be getting thinner up top. Should I be worried?

    Here are some recent pics:

    Thanks

Sideshot, dried and combed (I've always had a high forehead, no noticable hairloss on sides)

What scares me is how my hair looks when I get out of the shower:

Frontal shot, notice the thin patch in the middle

Top shot with hair slicked back, looks thinner in the mirror than in the pic

Top shot after I've started combing it

Only if it bothers you. Your hair line has been receding for quite some time and you are thinning out on top very noticeably. But again, it's only a concern if it bothers you. Many men are not bothered by it at all. If it does bother you, you need to see a doctor who specializes in treating hair loss. I would recommend seeking a doctor who is an IAHRS member. Here is a list:

You can probably arrest any further hair loss with Propecia (or generic Finasteride). You need to talk that over with your doctor. Propecia is Finasteride. Finasteride blocks the formation of DHT, which is the hormone that causes hair loss.

You can probably thicken it up a bit by adding Rogaine (or generic Minoxidil) and low level laser therapy. These two treatments are very limited if you choose not to take Propecia (or generic Finasteride) though.

Rogaine is Minoxidil. Regular Rogaine and generic Minoxidil come in liquid form. Rogaine foam is a kind of mousse. Liquid Minoxidil is messy. So many choose to use Rogaine foam in the morning because it is very stealthy and then use generic liquid Minoxidil in the evening. This also saves money because Rogaine foam is expensive while generic Minoxidil is pretty reasonable.

Low level laser therapy is expensive and it doesn't work for every one. I feel it is worth a try though. My sister and I have had good experiences with the laser comb. I do not know if the laser comb made any hair grow back, but it did improve the hair we have. It might improve your hair too. The only way to find out is to try it.

One product that is not FDA approved for the treatment of hair loss, but many people add to their regimen is Nizoral shampoo. The active ingredient in Nizoral shampoo is Ketoconazole. Ketoconazole is a mild anti-androgen that may offer additional protection from DHT at the scalp. I use the 1% non-prescription strength version (Nizoral A-D) myself in place of my regular shampoo twice per week. Many get the 2% prescription strength version and use it only once per week.
