So freakin depressed, its like the sort that sucks energy. I might give up in a few months or so.

NotDyingBald has great advice for you! You should try and not let hairloss get in the way.
thanks for all the support, this forum is really the only place people fully understand me!

the funny thing is that 2 or 3 years ago I would be so un self conscious I would just chat to any girls and not care about my looks. In all fairness my hair is probably only about 20% thinner than then.

In all truth I know I probably not going to get judged by my hair thickness and hell she may not even notice. But its the fact that I'm selfconcious of it now that it affects my confidence. I just think everyone is staring at my hair, though I doubt they actually are.

khan - can I ask, do you go through shedding periods on fin. Like I said before I've been on fin 8 months and I'm having a bad shed. Can you have sheds that aren't in your first few months of fin?

Shedding isn't a bad thing. it has been said countless times here and other forums. When you shed your hair gets replaced, it never immediately dies out. FACT. Therefore, because of the fact that you're on Finasteride, it is highly unlikely that your hair will shed and return thinner - or not come back at all, because finasteride does the opposite.

I appreciate your response mate. I've read a fair bit about shedding, but it mostly states that shedding happens in the first few months. As my shed is happening in month 8 I was just a bit concerned if this is 'normal' with finasteride.

I shed for the first 1-2months. But from there on things got pretty good. I even gained some ground, and my hair looked much better.

But from months 11-13 I shed again, and this time I lost some substancial ground. The shed has abated (i think) in my 15th month (which is now), but I have lost too much ground from the second one. My temples show alot when its a little windy and even otherwise. Its so depressing.

I think I am leaning towards quitting and just shaving. I am too depressed now, its hard to concentrate on grad school. Its really getting to me, I feel like just shaving and just go into hiding forever.

But if you're in your 8th month, I wouldn't worry too much. Spencer shed for an entire year, and a lot of people do. As long as you haven't crossed that 1 yr mark you still have a good chance.

bit depressed today. My hair is falling out rapidly, I don't know if this a fin shed or what! It's like my hair is getting worse day on day and no matter what I do it just looks shit!!

my hair is pretty short, like a 5 on top and next haircut I might even go down to a 4.

My mate has set me up on a blind date on Wednesday and although she has seen photos of me, my thin hair looks much worse in real life. I've been texting thus girl loads and she seems lovely. Don't want my crappy thinning hair to ruin it.

if only I had 20% more density I'd be fine ....
Wow written over a year ago! Time flies..... and for those are interested she was a nice girl but it all went belly up! - Not because of my hair though!! (Well if it was she never ever let on!!)

Anyhoo, just a quick update - My hair has stabilised since last year and is probably the same density and same hairline, so fin is working I'm guessing! - Just wondering when to move to Dut - been on fin for 20 months, do the effects start wearing off after 2 years?

I'm also using Mane Thickening Spray as a concealer, its not bad actually - although a bit powdery - I use a couple of sprays on my hair, brush it in and spray some hair spray on and it makes my hair look so much thicker!! I style it once the hair spray sets and literally none of the powdery spray comes off in my hands even though my hands are sticky with styling putty / wax.

Its good stuff for me and one can lasts me about 2/3 months. It only really comes out when i shampoo it, but girls have run their hands through my hair and it doesn't come off!

Looking back on old pictures of me, I think I've been losing my hair since 17 just realised until like 2 years ago when I guess the bulk of my density went. However since starting fin and nizoral I've barely moved in terms of hairline and density. I just kick myself that I didn't notice it sooner, but nothing I can do now really, just keep up with fin and niz and hope a better treatment is out within the next few years

You make it seem like your hair is pretty thin! How thin is it that it bothers you enough to use concealer?

You can't see scalp through my hair, until it's wet, then you definitely can see a little. Is yours like that?

And finally howd that blind date go? Lol.

It's not massively thin... Although my hair is straight, no curly so if its dry and there is a bright light shining above then you can see my scalp, though my hair is quite short..... usually about a 4/5 on top.

Date went really well thanks and we continued seeing each other for a few months afterwards then she met someone else, but I don't blame that on my hair!

UK_ - I think Maradona got convinced he had DUPA and got a bit down.... I guess he just stopped visiting the forums because it was too consuming. I haven't been on in nearly a year. Just popped on today to see if there was any news regarding histogen and decided to post about how its going for me
