If you do nothing to try to maintain the hair you have, you will continue to lose the native hair around the transplanted hair. So if you were using Minoxidil before, you will need to continue using Minoxidil. If you were using Propecia (or generic Finasteride) before, you will need to continue using it.

Here is something else for you to think about. There are a couple of biotech companies developing noninvasive cell based regenerative treatments for hair loss. The FDA trials are going on right now. If just one of those future treatments actually works, you won't have to worry about any of this.

Watch the video on the this biotech company's index page:

Once you do FUE or FUT you can no longer shave...
I think there are good FUE doctors out there that can make this happen without white dots. Here is the the other thing I have been thinking about lately. What if you get micropigmentation on the white dots if you do have them? I think this would be a good option to hide them. I have seen 5mm plugs hidden very well with micropigmentation. I am not saying it would look perfect but it would probably look better than nothing being done at all to hide the spots.

I have also seen FUE treatments where you couldn't see any dots. I think the docs are the top docs and expensive but I wouldn't go to any doc that wasn't expensive and had a top reputation. I think the risks are too great not to have the best doctor you can find work on your head.
