Default Day 25 - The Scar

I trimmed my hair with a 3 guard today, 25 days after surgery, but the scar is so apparent. I thought it would have blended in much more by now, or am i being unrealistic?

    I'd love your thoughts.

I can reduce the visibility by half with topic (dermatch just highlights it even more) but i'm still not ready to venture out without hat.

    cheers

Hey prodigy, I think the scar looks awesome. Very well done. If your hair was just a bit longer I don't think it would be visible at all.

    Thanks for keeping us updated.

    Hows the growth going?

Thanks Smiley. What makes a good scar in your opinion? I was kinda hoping a guard 3 would cover it up but maybe its too early for that.

in my opinion a good scar is one that is barley visible and is cut and closed with precision. Which yours looks like it is too me. Your only at day 25, I can only see it improving.

I'm sure that a #3 guard will cover the scar nicely... in about 6 months or so, once it's healed.

So you're not being unrealistic, it's just that you're being unrealistic just now... give it some time and you'll be fine.

    Good luck.

I don't know what a 3 guard is. Does that mean your hair is now less than an inch long?

In my surgery packet, the doctor advised against cutting my hair less than an inch long. The information states that one inch is needed to hide the donor area until it has healed.

    Prodigy,

The area will definitely improve with time. It should both flatten out a little more and also the coloration should lighten up and resume normal scalp tone.

Possibly try to widen the area with dermatch by touching up with sort of a staggered pattern as you move away from the scar itself. Try using a Qtip for the touch ups. That's what I did anyway until I grew enough length.

I agree wthat you will need at least an inch in that area to sufficiently hide the scar until it improves.

Hey, the best part will be coming in several months, the REGROWTH!

Best wishes to you in the coming months.

    Thumbs up

You’re in great shape. If the scar looks that good after only 25 days, it will probably be very difficult to detect in a year.
