Dr Rahal Patient - 1238 FUE Grafts - 6 Months

This patient had lost hair from his temple regions and the hair that remained was miniaturized and very fine. It had not improved with the use of Finasteride and Minoxidil.

The patient opted for FUE and Dr Rahal transplanted 1238 grafts to restore his temples and strengthen the hairline.

    Graft breakdown:

    312 Singles
    573 Doubles
    344 Triples
    9 Quads

The patient came back and was photographed at 6 months post surgery.

Brilliant job. Do you think as his hairloss progresses he can tackle it with FUE alone? Thanks.

It would depend just how far it progresses. He has stabilized his hairloss with medication and this procedure was fairly small, so this bodes well for the future.

Perhaps it's my conservative nature but I don't think stabilisation of hairloss by meds is enough to justify FUE only restoration. There's no guarantee that meds can put a stop to hairloss for good and indeed they generally will not in the long term. Sure they can grow some back in the short term but long term the studies do show people dropping slowly below baseline.

I think you still have to plan for the worst. Family history is more important I think because it's not where your baldness is at but where it is/could be headed that should dictate the gameplan.

I do see a lot of great FUE hair transplants on receding hairlines, norwood 2 and 3s mainly, but I'd hazard a guess that down the line a lot of these guys have to turn to strip to harvest the numbers.

I just worry about what happens if the tide goes out.
