How bad is it?
Hello, everyone. I am 28 years old. A few months ago I noticed I could see my scalp when looking in the mirror. It may be that this was the case for a long time, but I had never caught my eye until then. This got me wondering about hair loss since it runs in my mother's side (my step brother, my uncles, and my grandfather). On the other side, my father has a full head of hair, as do his brothers.
For a long time I have noticed that a few strands of hair (10-20) are shed when I shampoo. I did the 60 second combing test twice, and it came out to about 30 hairs on both times. What has me worried (besides what I see in the mirror) is that the shed hairs come mostly from the top of my head (crown). I have also noticed that some appear to be thinner than others (miniaturization?).
Due to my lack of experience, it is hard for me to assess the stage of thinning, so I am posting a couple of pics to hear your opinion about this and about a possible regimen.

Thanks in advance for your opinion and any help.

Get over being bald and never, ever touch propecia. You will thank me in years to come.

Your links to the photos didn't work for me. They contain a string of asterisks.

Matt,
Thanks for the heads up. Apparently the forum automatically blocks certain word combinations, and since that specific combination was present in the URL's, it got blocked.
Anyways, the links should be working.

The thinning doesn't look so bad to me - but if it bothers you, talk to your doctor about it. There are preventative measures you can take - but you need to talk to a real doctor about it.
It is not my place to talk about concernes over the possible side effects of Propecia because they do not apply to me. However, I do know a few men who have been on Propecia for quite a while and they tell me they do not have any of the possible side effects. Talk to your doctor about it.
I've been using a laser comb since my primary care doctor suggested it about four years ago. I'm not sure if it grows any hair back or not - but I do know that it makes the hair you have look a lot better.
I've also been using Nizoral A-D shampoo for a few years. As with the laser comb, Nizoral seems to make your hair look a lot better. It probably helps Minoxidil work better as well - but I can't say for sure.
Of course I am also using Minoxidil. Minoxidil is re-growing hair for me - but it is a very slow porcess - a painfully slow process.
