Switched from propecia to finesteride. Is it the same drug?

I just switched from propecia (1mg) to finesteride (taking a 5mg pill and cutting into four pieces and taking one a day, does of 1.25mg/day).

Are Finesteride and propecia the same exact drug where one is 5mg and one is 1mg?

The reason I ask is, I had another HT procedure back in July. I've been taking finesteride for about 8 to 10 days now and today on my pillow, I noticed about 20 hairs on it. Prior to this, I always noticed a few hairs.

If finesteride is propecia, then one possible reason for this high amount of hair on my pillow case is the material of the pillow case. I just got a new set of sheets and cases and they are no where as smooth and frictionless as the other pillow cases I had. If I slide my hand across the old cases, it's very smooth, sliding my hand across the new cases is almost like sliding it across a surface with rubber in it. I'm wondering if these new pillow cases are tugging at my hairs as i change positions during sleeping.

Either this or finesteride isn't propecia...

Thanks in advance to all who respond.

Yes. Propecia is 1mg Finasteride. Proscar is 5mg Finasteride. Generic Finasteride is currently only available in 5mg pills.

      Thanks.

The Propecia that I have been taking has stopped my hair loss since I first started taking it. I don't want to lose what's left of it...
