Default Hi guys. bit confused and after some help.

    Hi guys.

29 yo guy who is a bit confused whether or not am losing my hair really.

3 weeks ago id never really thought about it before, my hair was always pretty long and had a few greys but apart from that the balding thing seemed ok. Then my mother took ill with a stroke, this obviously stressed me out a lot, and around the same time I feel like my hair wasnt growing over my fringe as much and seemed a lot thiner and wispy. So since this 3 weeks ago not only worrying about my mother (who touch wood is now resting and on the mend) i was convinced i was thinning and very very fast.

All the front of my hair seemed to thin, and i couldnt flick it up at the front as it was so thin, 4weeks ago i was at a party and had it flicked up in a quiff perfectly. Only time it seemed to look ok was when I had washed it but the fringe was a lot thinner and wipsy than i was used too. I would be fiddling with it all day getting obsessed like some loon.

Now ive been to docs and they said they couldnt notice anything had all tests on the blood score apart from thiroid which i get tommorrow and thankfully all came back ok. They said stress can for sure cause hair loss and although i would hate to just clutch at this if i was infact losing my hair, does seem like ever since a really stressful thing had happened i seemed to lose some hair.

As for falling out in shower, i guess yeah there was some but with my hair longer think there is always a few. No big clumps really, in the end there was a few coming off in my hand everytime i dragged my hand across though. None more than normal on pillow or anything like that.

I am just baffled how fast i have seemed to lose hair here.

Anyone got any advice, as if im going bald im going bald its not end of world, and id deal with it like im sure a lot of folk have on here. and im just so glad its not medical. I guess what im asking how much is 'in my head' and how much is it true? and is stress an issue for this type of thing with the timing of it or am i clutching at straws here?

I have added two pics as in my stress i felt i was fiddling with my hair too much i shaved it off to a 3 at the weekend. ha. One is when it was long and i had washed it and the other is with a buzz cut. There is no bald patch as such but the hair on top of head does a bit bare, (maybe this is normal with a skinhead 3 im not sure and cant remember as its been so long since i got one) and obv it looks very thick when long which was a week ago.

family history, my mothers dad had full head of hair at 70 and her brother the same at 45. My father is now bald at 50(started about late 30's) and my uncle been bald since 20's.

any help opinions most welcome, hope you all are well. cheers

    please copy and paste.

Most men slowly loose their hair over time without noticing - and we usually do not see it before we have already lost 30-40% of the density. You do seem to have some thinning in the mid scalp and especially crown area but probably you had the same density in the first picture at least you have some crown thinning as far as the picture shows, but its just harder to see in your first picture.

From personal experience I can tell you that hair length and whether newly washed/dry or more greasy hair does look very different. Usually short wet look makes your hair look less dense and middle length dry hair will make your hair look better/have higher density.

My recommendation would be to see an expert face to face and if he agrees go on propecia/proscar medicine, if you are lucky you might get some density back and very likely keep what you have now. I have used it for 2 years now and it has halted my hair loss and added density to my crown with no side effects. You have a good head of hair now - I wish I had your hair line.

    Good luck.

Right, thanks for your honest opinion.

So you think i should 100% look for propecia to hault the hair loss? What type of expert do you think i should see? i have seen 3 doctors and they havent really said a thing, one said i wasnt even going bald and it was in my head??

I have read so many bad things on propecia though im very scared to go near it tbh, i really dont want a low sex drive or can it make me more likely to get cancer?

thanks for comment on hairline but it seems thats getting thinner and thinner by the day sadly.

Hope you will get other members opinions as well.

Propecia/Proscar has divided the public into two camps - they who wants to fight hair loss and take a minor risk of temporary side effects including loss of sex drive, erection, watery semen, testicular pain etc. I have only had watery semen of the ones mentioned. I do personally not believe in any permanent changes as the drug leaves your body and I believe anything remaining will be your mind playing games. And the other camp is those who has read about the risk of permanent side effects and see this chance as 50/50 and warn about the drug, which is understandable if they believe they are right.

Believe most people will say you have 3 things that can help your hair loss Nizoral shampoo, Rogaine and Propecia - you can do the other two, but you will get the best effect using all 3.

If you can keep what you have now - you will be the only one noticing any hair loss, but if you keep thinning, then you will be like many of us on this site.

I can tell you that I have been researching for years now and I decided to take proscar about 2 years ago and I am happy that I did - as I can see its effect clearly, but I have not yet taken the steps to get HT surgery but I am getting closer.

    Again best of luck.

Man I'm not an expert at all, but I can tell you by my experience, I used to have as many here such a thick hair until I was 32 yo. Suddenly once one year ago I noticed a little spot with thin hair on my left temple. I went to my PD and He told me I had nothing and no hair lose even. I let the time pass and my hair week by week was getting thinner and just not growing. After 6 months I went to see my first HT expert and after 8 months I started using Propecia and Laser therapy, but I'm always saying to myself that I had to go in the very first months to an specialist and maybe I could have gotten more of my hair.

Just go to a qualified specialist and let Him evaluate.

I bet if Viagra had 90% chance of causing a heart attack, most of those who are too scared of Propecia "side effects" would still take it. Again, it's men thinking with their other heads. It's simple, guys. If you're too scared of Propecia -because of hearsay- then don't ****ing take it. People always parrot words like "life is about taking chances", blah blah blah.. Ok then. It's not that hard. You either take it or you don't.

If I got a penny every time someone posted a similar question I'd be a millionaire by now.

    Hi guys.

Im now on propecia been on 4weeks, am thinking getting Rogaine shortly also as advised by most people. Still in shock with the whole hairloss thing, it was exactly 9weeks ago today I noticed that something was a miss. I cant tell if many is coming out in the shower as you will see ive shaved it off, as it has helped me deal with it, may try grow it back in time if i can that is.

Here is a new picture, its a 2 on the top and i think it was a 3/4 when i posted my last pic, does it look like im thinning more to anyone? i cant work out if i am or just cause its shorter, thanks.

Just give it some time, your hair loss is still minimal and chances are you will stop it in its tracks. Propecia works, and the fact that you started early is good. You do not look like you have thinned at all since the last time you posted pictures. Spencer Kobren always advises that you hold off on Rogaine and wait to see how you do with just one drug at a time. You can always add it later. This way you know what is or isn’t working for you.

thanks for quick reply Winston. thats nice to hear and glad your being honest. yep thats good then ill stay on propecia for now then.

do it work as soon as it goes into your body then mate? ie: if ive been taking it 4weeks will the hairloss continue until it starts to work in 9m/ 1year? or just it kinda start haulting right from the get go? (i know there is no 100% rule to this, but generally? ) thanks.
