    Default strip incision and donor area follicular damage

    i watched this video
    [URL="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHbbjG22wgw"]

    (probably infamous on this board!)

    Seems pretty brutal to me, and i was wondering...the surgeon is using a twin bladed scalpel/pizza cutter. the strip incision seems absolutely huge..all the way around the patients head...
    Question:

    How can a surgeon accurately negotiate a path through the donor area without causing significant collateral damage to unused, healthy follicles that are shredded by this device?

    Wouldnt it be much safer/diligent to use a single bladed instrument that can be controlled so as to minimise collateral damage and create a cleaner incision, and therefore aid healing of the scar tissue?

    it looks like the surgeon isnt even really taking too much notice of the work he's performing...

    is this type of scalpel typical (seems its only used to save time at the expense of the patients end result), and is the size of the strip incision typical??

    I would assume that a strip of this size would only be for patients who are at least norwood 5+??
