Default 0.5mg fin every other day?

Somebody on this forum mentioned that taking 0.5mg of fin every other day has a similar (or slightly less) eficacy to 1mg/day. How much truth is there to this?

If there is some truth to this I would definately start taking finasteride as I am currently too scared to take it out of fear of the side effects and taking half once every two days would probably greatly lower the liklihood of any occuring.

You could also try 1 mg or .5 mg daily first and if you have any side efeects then back off to .5 mg every other day. Remember many of the patients who clain to be having side effects from Finasteride are more placebo effect that real effect. The more you are thinking about it the greater the chance of psyching yourself out.

You always need to weight the positives versus the negatives. There are no studies that directly compare 1 mg daily to 1 mg every other day. If your side effects went away that is the important thing. I have even heard of some docs who have the patients take it 2 days on one day off. One other option would be to take .5 mg every day and see if the side effects return.
