    dandruff and white lumpy things

    Dear doctor,

I really hope you can help me. Im 18, and have been losing hair for about 5 months now. This is some info:

-My scalp does fall slightly into the oily category
-I have quite alot of dandruff (could this be the reason?)
-I notice in quite alot of my fallen hairs that at the root is a white lump, somehwat like accumulated dandruff. Is this excessive sebum?

PLease please please help me, thank you so much!

I would try using Nizoral shampoo...it will be good for dandruff and maybe you have more yeast going on, that should clear it up...

Oily scalp and dandruff are caused by testosterone, as I have emphasized in other recent posts. Treatment usually involves a testosterone blocker such as spironolactone, usually with a non-androgenic birth control pill. This is described in many of my other posts.
