    propecia shed...back of head?

Going through a CRAZY shed lasted about a month so far...about 5 months into treatment w propecia...but I am also shedding from the back of my head when i run my hands through it? is that normal? Dermatologist looked at my head and said the shed was normal...but I've never heard of shedding on the back of your head?

It is normal. Shedding is a nesassary evil that is associated with every treatment for hair loss that actually works. Shedding is an indication that treatment is working. The hairs in the follicles that have been damaged by DHT need to shed out of the way as those damaged follicles are returning to normal. How much you will shed depends on how many of your hair follicles have been damaged by DHT. The more damaged hair follicles you have, the more you will shed. The less damaged hair follicles you have, the less you will shed. It does not matter where on your head those damaged hair follicles are. If they are damaged, they are going to shed hair.

You need to talk to a doctor.

If you have more damaged hair follicles on the side of your head, then it would make sense that you would shed more from there. A doctor needs to evaluate your scalp to help you determine what is going on. Speculating on your own is not doing you any good. All you are doing is creating more stress for yourself - and stress will cause shedding.

Probably. If they cannot, ask for a referal to another doctor who has more experience in these matters.

thanks Tracy. tbh the full matter has been treat like a joke. my doctor kinda of laugh's, now i admit i maybe am stressing more than i should be, but something is for sure happening and i just want some answers then i can at least deal with it. Im on propecia now so fingers crossed. its just the thin, bristly sides i cant work out which seem to have got worse since ive been on the drug. im seeing a dermotolgist yeah but there is no other doctors (hair type) in my area, so this is my last chance.
