Hey Jay how many grafts have you been recommended mate I am 32 and with an almost identical hairline to you with a similiar density as well?

Hi Steve, I've been recommended 1500-1700.
This was what nearly all of the Doctors recommended during consultations.
Of course I wont truely know until the operation is done, but will be around that number.

Just realised I didnt ever finish this thread.

So..........fast forward 2.5 years, my first transplant was 1647 FUT with Dr Dorin, New York.

Here is a before any work and just before my second procedure.



I was very pleased with the result, I knew I would need 2 to achieve the density that I wanted. This week I returned to Dr Dorin and had my second procedure which was 1580 FUT.





My experience both times with Dr Dorin has been great.

First post on here, thought I'd introduce myself, my hair and my plans for it!

I've always had a M shaped hairline, i was probably born a Norwood 1 if the truth be told.
Im 34 years of age and would like to fill the gaps in, to give me a better hairline. I dont have thinning anywhere, just a well developed 'adult' hairline which I truely hate.
Hopefully in a few months, this will be on its way to a more fuller future!

The photo's where my hair is brushed back, is just out of the shower, with some clay in my hair so it would stay put when I slicked it back!

My brother in law had hair like yours when he was in his thirties. It just receded there and stayed that way well into very old age. Men with recession who will never bald in the back are usually the best candidates for hair restoration surgery. Just be careful and resist the temptation to go too low later with the hairline. Some doctors will do it and once it's done, some men become very self conscious about their new low-placed hairline. We had a few patients last year who went too low and regretted that decision. It's really a long, drawn-out ordeal to raise a hairline that's grafted too low. A little recession looks more natural on a man and I think in the long run, you will be happier with that approach.

I have seen that a lot. When I was younger, I first noticed recession and thought it would continue on back. Instead my recession stopped and my hair in the front, back and on top, thinned.

We have a patient whose hairline was like Ronald Reagan's but perhaps lower. His hair didn't show any signs of recession at all. It just thinned out in the classic MPB pattern. He had a large nearly bald area Dr. Cole treated with 3600 grafts. His higher hairline now looks better in my opinion and his result looks perfectly natural. He told me, people at work asked him what he did to regrow his hair. He told them Rogaine and evidently sold all the men at work on Rogaine.

Do you have much of a family history of hair loss? Sometimes men will inherit their hair from an unknown relative from generations back. Often men inherit the hair their mother's father had. Sometimes they inherit their dad's hair or an uncle's hair. If you only have frontal hair loss in your family, that generally makes you an excellent candidate for hair restoration.

MPB baldness runs on both sides of the family. On my mothers side, there are not that many high norwoods, she has 8 brothers, 2 of them are high Norwods. The first lost most of his hair at 25 (bald patch forming) and is now a NW6 the other lost his hair in his 40s/50s, and is now a NW4. The other brothers - 2 of them have no hairloss, 1 of them has mild recession. NW2 at 50.

Grandfather is a NW6.

Dad's side - Dad is bald. But again lost it late on, 40s. Again mixed bag. Seems like my family has a lot of receeders rather then diffuse thinners/bald patchers
