is this true that minoxidil is only effective on crown area?

I don't know where but somewhere I have read minoxidil is only effective on crown part of head, is this true? My temporal parts are getting bald and my hairline is receding, does minoxidil really help me?

I have plan to use minoxidil 5% this time, I already used 0.5% minoxidil but it didn't help, please guide. Thank you in advance

Not entirely true - everyone responds differently and i have spoken to many who have responded well in the hairline as well as the crown from minoxidil.
