Default Dr. Lindsey 1700 female partline, 1 week, McLean VA

This lady came in a few months ago with thin hair, most noticable at the partline. She'd been to a variety of other offices reportedly eager to operate on her. I gave her a pretty good argument not to have anything done and encouraged her to sleep on it a while. And when she was still interested, I explained how we shave the recipient area and after the sutures are out, that she can cover the procedure by moving her part...but she probably won't see much improvement for a year or more.

We she opted to proceed last week. I think she has realistic expectations and was a terrific person to work with so far.

We got around 1700 grafts, and really expect the part line and the surrounding, shaved area, to get a nice result when grown in. She lives nearby, and hopefully we'll have pics in a month and 6 months to post.

    Smile From the very beginning

Getting older doesn't mean you have to accept becoming fat, bald and matronly. Giving to others doesn't mean you have to give up on yourself. I decided to make a change in my appearance -getting back some of the hair which I lost especially in my part area as I was reaching my golden years.

My first experience of spending a few minutes and money on myself and appearance was to a laser treatment specialist. He had himself a hair transplant. It was he that was brave enough to mention the loss especially in my part area and why put up with it. He showed me his before and after pictures. He highly recommended going to a reputable plastic hair loss surgeon who knew what he was doing. His had retired. Afterwards family members said, "Oh yes, we noticed it, but didn't want to hurt your feelings and mention it."
I came home and began my search. This was not the easy part. I started by
visiting specialists. I was extremely vulnerable and a few definitely tried to
play on this. The harder they pushed the more I researched then closed the book on them. None were what I was looking for. I continued my quest and found through both the AMA and hair loss specialists Dr. William Lindsey.

Basically I knew when I entered Dr. William Lindsey's office that I had made the right decision. He took a few minutes to look, said yes it would probably work for me, then tried to discourage me. I went straight to the receptionist and put down a deposit. The absolute opposite of pressure.

Surgery was scheduled and the day came. I drove myself. Fortunately I had made back up arrangements with a friend who decided that she was picking me up anyway and came at the end of the procedure to take me home.
My nerves when I put my keys in my purse were at best shot. Dr. Lindsey noted this and did his utmost at both putting me at ease and giving me enough time and medicine to be numb. He had me lay face down and again asked if I was okay. When removing the donor hair I only felt pressure, no pain. I then moved to a different chair in another room where my hair down the center was shaved and then meticulously-piece by piece- my donor hair was placed into my center part area. When all was done a wrap was placed around my head and my friend took me home...impressed with my courage and the work of the doctor.
The wrap came off the next day, slight headache. Day two again a slight
headache. The swelling began on Day three. Day four yes I was swollen, but was given notice that this would happen - Dr. Lindsey asked that I come by to be sure that everything looked as it should. By Day seven when you have your stitches out the swelling is almost gone. I was able to pull my part over and get on with living.
I haven't looked back. Today is Day nine. The area has crusted. I shampoo daily even twice. To date all of the graft has held and appears even to be growing. I am prepared for it to fall out, then regrown again.
Please follow my story if you are hesitant to do this.

This patient stopped by yesterday at a month. Shown is that she's lost most of the grafts we placed, as expected. Also, her scar looks perfect at 1 month. And by parting her hair to the left, just a bit lateral to the original partline, she's able to completely hide the transplant even though we shaved it.

I'll see her this fall for another check.
