Long tim sufferer, 1st time post, deutasteride

Hey, I listened to Spencer on the radio here in LA .....10 years or more ago?
I even called once and hung up, too embarrassed to even talk about it at 18/19
deutasteride wasn't an option back then

Thanks so much Spencer for your book and show
I started loosing my hair at 18. I'm 32 now and finasteride 5mg has kept it really slow...and I still have a hairline, although I use prothik to disguise my thinning since I was in early 20s....
I have really long hair, and it means everything to me, I really don't want to ever shave my head....

Anyways, it is getting worse over the last 2- 3 yrs and I'm wondering if I should switch to dutasteride, if it gets worse, I don't know what I'll do

How long has it been available?

I never had any side effects w/ finasteride

I did quit minoxidil a couple years ago due to finances, but it never seemed to cause growth for me...but maybe it helped slow it down??

    Thanks everyone

DUT might be the next option in order to keep DHT suppressed as its a stronger DHT inhibitor.

Look into Minoxidil Foam as its not expensive and is a regrowth agent. Combining the the meds sees best results.

      Thanks!

I just ordered 5% minoxidil, the kirkland brand is very affordable, so getting back on that
the last 2 years were so bad economically, but things are turning around

Dutasteride, what is the dosage I should be looking at?
      I'm taking 5mg finasteride
I want to make sure I don't take too low of a dose when I switch to "avodart" or dutasteride

      Thanks

        Hi,
Are you taking 5mg in one hit - That is overkill dude - The recommended dose is 1mg.

See drug chart for appropriate amount of DUT

From what I remember Spencer started taking 5mg because that what was offered when he started. There was no Propecia. I always here him tell listeners to start with 1mg Propecia and if it doesn't work well to ask your doctor to up the dose to 2 and so on. Why don’t you try to up your dose of finasteride instead of going to dut?

I did 1mg for a while in my early-mid 20s and didn't switch to 5mg til late 20s/ last few years

so I have done it gradually
propecia helped slow it down, but never stopped it

I def want the next level

I'll go back on minoxidil 1st, then talk to my dr
minox never seemed to regrow anything, at least not in hairline, which is my main concern, but maybe it did help to slow it down

I think it was his radio show where he suggested that higher finasteride would help

hey for all those worrying about side effects:

my story is I never had any side effects
I WISH I had less sexual energy...or maybe my wife does...

never any hint of impotence etc...
and not sure about depression as I have always been depressed (especially at 18 worrying about this)
