Cool 24 year old male looking for help devising plan of action

    Hello my name is Zac.

Let me start by expressing how grateful I am that resources like this exist. I have been reading this forum for a year or so and I am ready to take some steps in combating hair loss. I should have taken action years ago but I was nervous about risking the possible side effects that some report come along with Propecia when I was so young. Here is what I am thinking based on what i have read:

Propecia to stabilize hair loss and then FUE transplant (I am blessed to have the resources to do whatever is needed from a surgical standpoint so cost is of little concern). I wanted to include some photos of my hair loss in order to get the opinions of some board members about about how far along I am, how realistic it is that I might be able to conceal my balding with a transplant, etc. I am also interested of hearing the opinions of those who have tried Propecia and had success with regrowth of any kind even if minor. I should note that there is no history of balding in my family. Regrettably I drank quite heavily for a number of years and I cant help but wonder if this was a great contributer to my hair loss. I would appreciate any feedback.

Here is a link to a photo of what I am working with: http://img34.imageshack.us/i/zhead.jpg/

    Thanks in advance,

    Zac

Hi Zinc. I would try Rogaine before getting a transplant because it may be what you need to regrow your hair. Is there any reason why it's not a part of your plan?

It doesn't sound like you're in any crazy rush for results so why don't you try Rogaine for at least 6 months before going for the transplant?

Can you show a few photos of your donor area? It looks like you have some diffuse thinning and it would be important to know that your donor has adaquate density for hair transplantation in the future.

How possible is it that diffuse hair loss like this could have been caused exclusively by alcohol abuse? As I said above I have no family history of hair loss.. Just curious - I have read conflicting things.
