Exclamation For those on Propecia : when did your SIDE EFFECTS kick in?

Hi I am new to the forum i am 24 and have noticed receeding at the temples (started at 20 but now much worse) which have made me depressed but have started to do something about it and have started taking the big 3 which i read about on this forum

What I want to know is when did everyone notice the side effects kicking in (particularly the sexual and gyno)? I am 1 and a half months in propecia and thankfully have not noticed any sides yet but have heard that they can come at anytime. When do the sides normally occur?

By the way I have noticed small headaches recently which I have never had in my life before but only after I started propecia.. im not saying propecia is the cause but has anyone else had short quick headaches whilst on propecia?

    Please share your stories

Side effects can occur at anytime after starting a new medication. In my experience with prescribing Propecia the few patients who claimed to have side effects noticed within the first 1-3 months.

Most patients who think there might even be a chance that they are having a side effect panic and discontinue the medication right away. This especially true if the side effect is sexually related. In many of these cases the supposed side effects would actually go away in a short period of time if they continued the medication.

    Default crazy

propecia blocks DHT. DHT maintains your corpus cavernosum and tunica albuginea. it likely does thousands of other things in your body, just like testosterone does. There is tons of evidence that propecia, which you are taking for cosmetic reasons, is not a safe drug. the headaches you are feeling may be the signs of a systemic effect, as your body is being deprived of one of the most important hormones in your system. doctors who are prescribing this medication for hair loss are just going to laugh at you when you develop side effects, because they (absurdly) believe that somehow a medication that stops hair loss, a natural process in most men, is not going to stop other 'natural processes' in men like erections.

see things like this really scare me. I don't know what to believe. There are so many anecdotal accounts on the internet of people saying things have gone wrong, but the statistics for side effects shows that those who suffer are in the minority. Although I am more reliant on the actual data than individual stories, its still pretty scary

    Default just say no

the "actual data" you mention is 'actually' clear that propecia is a bad drug. there have been studies done almost yearly from 1999 until today showing this repeatedly. the only data that says different comes from Merck (gee, wonder why?). right now the drug is still being sold, but this cannot go on forever. do you want to be the guy with a box full of propecia on your bathroom counter when the "final final" word on propecia comes down ("oops, we're sorry, here's some coupons for cialis...")?

i understand the anxiety with losing your hair young. but this is a mental thing -- its like a girl freaking out that she is fat, when really, there is nothing wrong with her. if you're fit, trim and confident, you are just a sexy bald guy instead of a sexy guy with hair. girls know that its NORMAL for a guy to lose his hair, but its not normal to alter your hormones so that you are no longer a man in order to stop your hair falling out, got it? you have got to understand that by taking this drug, you are fundamentally changing who you are as a living being -- hormonally altering yourself...for hair, you are being taken advantage of by a pharmaceutical company who recognizes your anxiety and wants you to believe that its ok to do this to yourself.

And all the shit like depression and mood swings, gyno, etc etc that are all possible with Finasteride.

I was seriously thinking of taking that stuff, but i'm resigned to the fact that i'd rather have a buzz cut than a limp penis and possibly other ailments. Just aint worth the risk in the long run - and **** - Fin wont even give you your temples back even if it does work to some degree.

Did you check all of the reference studies? Who put up that website? No legitimate entity would use a blogspot blog. Referring to a blog that has zero credibility holds no water.

Ok, i'll refer to Propeciahelp.com, i'm sure many of those case's hold water. Anyway - i wish anyone who takes it all the luck in the world, wish it was a safer product, and i'd take it too.
