Default Haarfollikelzüchtung at the Technical University of Berlin

A process that has remained secret for a long time and is being developed at the Technical University of Berlin is a most interesting hair model that could bring a full head of hair again in the near future.

Unfortunately I don't speak German, so basically I would need a translator. How does this process work, did they already start clinical trials, what is its efficacy?

To make things short they choose the hard variation. The actually grew working follicles in petri dishes.

According to the researcher he said that this is a proof for a working solution because in our skin there are blood vessels and everything else which is absent from the petri dish grown ones.

I think they experimented with this some years ago (thats why it was a secret) and now they search for partners.

But the long form (i copy this from hair site)

There are a number of publications with different emphasis, but that's not easy to understand here the exact procedure. Could you briefly the sequence of
    Haarfollikelzüchtung to describe your technology:

In our method is composed of Haarfollikelzüchtung is the world's first and only procedure in which autologous, so the body's own cells engineered to special "hair seeds".

First, here are the subjects / patients a few hair follicles taken from which the required cells are isolated. These are multiplied considerably, under special conditions reassembled and coated with a biological matrix / protective layer, so as to form inductive hair germs. This "Neopapillen"are already in a position in the culture dish, small, hair-producing "Mikrofollikel" build. We have used this method, especially in a scientific journal (Journal of Biotechnology) described in more detail.

We assume that this Mikrofollikel are also in the scalp in a position to produce in future a new hair can be.

It will therefore always be necessary to remove some hair, and this then in the form desired to reinstate?

Yes, just like a FUE hair transplant also be removed from our procedure with small biopsies 0.9 mm follicles (the small units that produce our hair). However, depending on the degree of alopecia, a much smaller number have to be removed. Must be expected for 10000 hair germs are taken up to 30 biopsies, but are not even a pinhead in size. This is painless, leaves no visible scars and is performed in a few minutes.

What is the most difficult step in the process?

The most difficult steps are the preparation of the required cells, since this must be done under a microscope and a lot of experience and particularly for the coating with the biological matrix / coating. All other steps are indeed complicated and costly, as they must be carried out in clean room laboratories, but biotechnological standard.

How far are you? Does it work in animals?

We are ready with the development of this advanced technology that preclinical animal studies and clinical trials in humans now after acquisition of adequate financing in a detailed test program scheduled to be executed. We are very confident that this technology will succeed, because we manage the development of hair shafts even in vitro. In contrast to human skin, here are key supporting factors such as nerve, support and blood supply does not exist, yet does Mikrofollikelbildung.

Biotechnology is of course a synonym for progress on the one side, even for large safety concerns on the other side. How do you rate from today's perspective, security is a procedure?

Security Studies Aderans Company (USA) or Intercytex (GB) and another for implantation of autologous cells into the scalp have promoted in recent years, no identifiable risks to light. From today's point of view, therefore, our technology is safe because the body's own material is used and this not as is genetically modified. Ultimately, the safety ofprocedure is of course the subject of clinical studies for our transplants in the enormously strict European ATMP ( advanced therapymedicinal products ) rulesmust be performed before a first administration to patients. If the trials are successful, the process has met the highest global safety standards.

Let's talk about a very fundamental question: work on it to make the process available for the patients? And more importantly: how long will it take?

Of course, the goal of our development to give any such treatment option is available. It is gentler than all previous methods and it will probably be dealt with cases where lack of sufficient donor hair are currently no methods available. For our test program we need for tighter project management about 5 years so that all issues of safety and efficacy of the transplants to clarify sound. In the course of the program are discussed in the clinical studies has a significant number of interested parties. An authorization can be reached before 5 years after the start, yet we still look for partners for the necessary financing.

Of course it's way too early, but still a very important question: is the procedure for a normal person to be affordable?

It is expected that the market entry price will be initially quite high. The long process of developing the biotechnological production costs and are the most important price driver. And the transplantation method, however, in the mass application, the costs can be through the utilization of manufacturing facilities and automation of production likely to be significantly reduced.
