    Default Propecia 9 months

    Hey Guys,

Ive been on propecia for nearly 9 months now and I am still uncertain as to whether the drug is actually working. I feel like there is far less shed now, and less hairs are falling in the shower or bath these days, so there are good signs. The left hand side of my head seems to have thickened slightly, however the right (although its not getting worse) still consists of thin hairs, by which I mean hairs with pretty much no pigment at the bottom. Also when the hair is wet it still looks rather thin in the area.

What can this mean if I have yet to see much improvement on the right side? Surely the drug will not only benefit one side of my hairline?

Do i need to be on the drug longer?
Do you think that in time the hair throughout my hairline will thicken?

I look forward to all your replies, Thank you

P.S I have had no side effects to the drug.

Yo man, I've heard from some people that propecia tends to grow one side of the temporal region better....forgot which one it was though. Anyway, the fact that you're shedding much less is victory. Propecia is moreso used to hold onto what you have, and if you see any regrowth, then that's going above and beyond. If you're fine with what oyu have now, then great, but if you want to regrow/thicken more hair, you're going to have to look for other medications. Rogaine is obviously one that is talked about a lot, but I don't know if you want to take the risk and hassle each day to put that in. You could also try some emu oil, which is said to be an anti-androgen. Topical spiro is another option. Even a thickening shampoo could do some good for you. Hope that helps.

Yeah what the guy above me said is true. Propecia/Finasteride is known as a DHT blocker? I think. So what it does best is prevent from more shedding which you claim it did that and you also say it thickened some hair which is extra credit.

Add minoxidil, you don't have to buy Rogaine, you can buy Kirkland's which is cheaper and it works for me.

SE19- how bad were you shedding before propecia and around what month did you notice you stopped shedding so much?
