Proscar EOD and DHT serum levels advice
So I'm 22 yrs old and a diffuse thinner, everywhere. Around the ears, back, top, sides. Hair really began to thin and shed in August of 2010. After going the natural route of saw palmetto and realizing that didn't work, i started proscar at the beginning of Jan 2011. I split the proscar 8 times and take 1/8 every MWF. My serum DHT levels before getting on it were 30 ng/dl, average range is 25-75 ng/dl. After a month on 1/8 proscar MWF, my levels are now 20 ng/dl. It is now around the 2 month mark and I still have yet to see improvement and my hair continues to shed massively. Maybe 200 a day.
Does this mean propecia/proscar won't work for me? Should i up the dosages? Wait it out? Anyone experience something similar?
Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

you need to take the recommended dosage. people wonder why the drug doesnt work when they make up their own dosing schedules...

I hear what you're saying but what does it matter what dosage I take if it's lowering my dht? Why wouldn't I be seeing results if it's working?

I have heard of some peope taking Proscar on a MWF schedule, so you're not doing something completely random. On top of that, you're only 2 months in. From what I've been reading on forums and what not, you're not supposed to expect results until around the 6th month mark. If anything, your hair is going to look worse around the 3rd month, and from then on it should be smooth sailing. But it's also important to keep in mind that everyone's biochemistry is different, and there are many factors that can go into determining if/when the drug will work for you.
The fact that you're shedding is supposed to be a good sign. My recommendation is to keep going with the medication man. Hope that helps.
