I had my 3rd hair transplant with Dr Sanusi Umar. 5,035 grafts.

I decided to have my 3rd hair transplant with Dr Sanusi Umar of Redondo Beach California.

Dr Umar was a friendly and fun guy to talk to. Dr Umar's staff was also very friendly and made me feel at ease immediately.

Since I am a borderline Norwood 7 I asked Dr Umar to transplant 5,000 grafts.

I also asked him to address my scar as I would like to be able to cut my hair shorter in the future. My ultimate goal is to be able to cut my hair pretty short in the future.

The surgery lasted for 3 days from 7:30am to 8:00pm every day.

I stayed at the beautiful Portofino Hotel and Yacht Club, which is only a short walk to Dr Umar's clinic.

In total Dr Umar was able to transplant 5,035 grafts.

2,300 came from my beard and the remaining came from head and nape hair.

1,750 head and nape hair were used in my hairline/frontal scalp region.

3,285 head and beard grafts were used in my crown.

300 beard grafts were place into my strip scar.

Originally Dr Umar thought I would need 750 beard grafts, for my scar, but Dr Jerry Wong did such a phenomenal job that the scar was so thin I only needed 300 beard grafts.

    HAIRLINE/FRONTAL SCALP:

    BEARD GRAFTS INTO BACK SCAR:

I think for my next hair transplant I will ask Dr Umar to try some body hairs, into my crown, and see how they grow.

I didn't have any body hair grafts.

Beard hair is much more reliable and a great choice for strip scars.

I think for my next hair transplant I am going to ask Dr Umar to try some body hairs in my crown and see how they grow.

That strip scar is very thin. I bet with your cut very short it won't be visible. Especially now that you have some grafts transplanted over it.

Umar's work is always very "bloody" in the immediate post-op pics. I presume that there's a reason why he doesn't blot the area and clean it up? Maybe the blood helps in the healing.

Your results look great after two sessions with Dr Wong. Why not finish the job with him? Lack of supply for another strip?

I decided I didn't want to go through another strip surgery.

I also liked the fact that Dr Umar is able to use beard hair in strip scars and the crown.

So as someone that has gone through both procedures what were the draw backs of each? I am 29 and about a N3 my dad's a N6 and I am most likely headed there. I think I could get away with a FUE right now but don't want to wreck my donor hair with a fue or thats what the strip doctors keep telling me anyways. Any feedback would be great!

Why did you choose umar? His work is pluggy and the coverage he brings is not that good. I really hope you have had good results although it will be hard since he is one of the mediocre docs in the field. The thing about him is he does a lot of marketing and PR. If you need a fix up may I recommend you do it with someone else. They will use far left grafts, which will make it more affordable to you, and you will get far better results.

SilversSurfer is correct about Umar’s marketing. He really pounds the internet with weird videos and I think he must give incentives like free grafts to people to post on these forums. I don’t think his hair transplants look natural at all. He makes very weird and unnatural hairlines if you ask me.

i have to say something , if you look at reds first picture before ht # 1 with hasson and wong , he literally had nothing on top so to speak of . His result with H & w is impressive and i think we are all dying to see updated pics after his third transplant with dr umar. Using beard hair is interesting to fill in the crown, imagine having less hair on your face you need to shave and having better coverage on top. Red pls post a pic when you feel comfortable.
