Perils of rushing into a hair transplant
The perils of rushing into a hair transplant.
This is an example.
Patients often think that doctors get some formal training in hair transplant in medical colleges before offering hair transplants.
That's not the case.
As this patient saw firsthand.
Hair transplant is an ART.
Just plucking grafts from one place and sticking it in another is NOT hair transplant.
This patient, nickname R401, underwent a so called hair transplant elsewhere.
The problems :
Grafts placed where they shouldn't be. The doctor had no clue of art involved.
Wrong hair directions and angles.
Low density.
Cobblestoning as the excess skin was not removed from grafts.
We performed "hair transplant reversal" for him.
As more doctors start offering hair transplant without thorough training, these situations are becoming common.
Patients want to see what the skin looks like after removal of such grafts from the highly visible forehead and temple areas.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Regards,
Dr A
