    Capital barely functions

    As a matter of fact, the current capital barely functions. Cairo's central Tahrir Square is clogged with ministries and embassies. The city is at times impossible to traverse because many streets are blocked to protect the buildings and their occupants. By 2050, the capital's 22 million inhabitants will have doubled from its current level. The New Administrative Capital, which will new administrative capital embassies, government agencies, the parliament, 30 ministries, a spiral presidential compound, and some 6.5 million people when completed, seems a no-brainer.
